Daylight Savings Time

Hello Friends,

I’m confused again. Humans really baffle me.

Tonight my mom is going around the house changing all the clocks. For some reason, she is pushing them all ahead an hour. She says that everyone is doing this and that tomorrow we will all have more daylight. Now, I am not a math person (fer sure), but how can we have more daylight by pushing the clocks ahead? Isn’t there only so much daylight? And, months from now, when we turn the clocks back, do we do it because then we want more darkness?

My whole routine will now be messed up for awhile because of this. Normally, I sleep until around 11:00, sometimes later. I go for my walk around noon. When I get home from my walk, I sit on Grandpa’s lap and give him Koobuss kisses. Then I take an afternoon nap and between 5 and 6 PM I have my supper. (I really like being a dog.)

After supper I patrol the front yard and bark at the neighbors, especially any cats, squirrels, bunnies, dogs, kids, bikes, etc. that wander past my territory. I have to protect my space, you know. Now I suppose that all this will happen an hour early, or is it later? I hope I’m not too sleepy to take my walk.

We dogs don’t need to have our clocks changed. We always know what time it is. We know when it’s time to eat and when it’s time to sleep. We know when it’s time to go for a walk and when it’s time to play. We know when it’s time for our people to leave for wherever it is that they go and when it’s time for them to return. We know when our people need kisses and when they need to laugh or cry. And we know all this without even wearing a wristwatch!

Why do humans make everything so complicated? Scheesh…..

We will be going through the same ritual at the end of March in the UK. As you say hoomans sure are strange creatures.

Happy weekend.

We did the same thing here. I have been promised that it means more playtime when Momma gets home from work, but we shall see.

Hi, Koobie...

I know what you mean...

I think they just need something to keep them busy...

All I know is I lost an hour of my weekend...I think that means I lose one whole nap...

We did that too! This is the first time Teka has had daylight saved for her, cause it was already happning when we got here in June.

So, this morning she slept until 7:06 A FIRST! Muzzer hopes it keeps up for a couple of days, I have told her not to bet on it.

gussie

pee ess...muzzer says she wants to know what time you go to bed for the night, and what your mom does to make you sleep?

We are lucky as we live in one of the 2 places in North America that does not change their clocks

(Saskatchewan- and the other is Arizona)

We are totally confused, too, Koobie! We got our breakfast an hour earlier than usual. At least, I THINK is was earlier! Our mom wants to move back to Arizbona where they NEVER change the time!

Koobie, we don't do daylight savings here in AZ, maybe you should move?!

Hi, Koobie!
We will have that change until the end of April!
But you are right. We know pretty well the time without a clock.
Have fun this sunday!

Excellent thinking, Koobie. It does not make much sense, and it throws us dogs' perfectly good routines off. I think my lunch was late today...or was it? At least I got it!

Joey

It was awful this morning, Koobie! What happened to the daylight when we eat our breakie! It was dark out! We don't like this but mom says we'll get used to it!

Hi, Koobuss -

You are so right - dogs don't need clocks. Mama has even said that sometimes she thinks we are smarter than her. Have a good weekend.

We changed our clocks too and we just don't understand it. But we heard Mom say it means that now we have a better chance at getting a walk at night now. So that's a good thing - we like it!!!

We don't know why the humans need clocks when they have us to let them know the time. Food time, nap time, walk time, what else is there to know?

That's so weird. My hoomans don't do that & I'm glad they are not or else our routine will be so messed up too!

Grammie says that the only good thing about DST is that she had to work an hour less on Sunday morning. I think she forgets that she has to work an hour more in the fall. Crazy old bat.
