Wire Fox Terriers
Hi Everybody,
My friend Asta in New York asked for our help in explaining to the world what our wonderful breed is like. Since I am less than ten months old myself, I am still learning a lot about what it means to be a wire fox terrier. I do know this, though. I am the 4th wft in my family since 1975. If they didn’t love wfts, I would not be here.
All of us share the same characteristics, while remaining individuals. We wire fox terriers are all beautiful, loving, friendly, emotional, fun, humorous, (one show judge called us "little clowns in fur suits"), independent, intelligent, feisty, loyal, stubborn, brave, and athletic (as Archie proved). We are tightly wound, but I prefer to say we are "enthusiastic”. We got it all. In short, we are pretty terrific!
Some of us may be hard to handle, but most of us aren’t. And if we are, so what! That's part of being a wft. And besides, isn’t that true of people, too?
Here is Koobus I. My family rescued him from the local SPCA back in 1975. He was a rock fan and had quite a collection. Every time he went for a walk he brought a rock back home.
All the other Koobusses, including me, my family got as puppies.
This is Koobus II, also born in upstate New York. This Koobuss, who looked a lot like me, was an avid snorkeler. He had his own swimming pool and would dive his head into the water and blow bubbles all across the pool. How athletic is that?
Now for Koobus III. Here he is as a puppy, all decked out in his winter sweater. One of his favorite jobs was that of a tire inspector. He knew the serial numbers of every tire in the neighborhood. He was a genius.
So you see, all of my wire fox terrier predecessors were unique and quite talented. Even though we are all different, we are all the same. We all love our families and they love us.
We also have a great smile!

I wonder what made your mama & daddy pick that first Koobuss at the shelter?? He started it all off.
And, you're right about your smiles - that's one of my favorite things about WFT's - you are all so smiley!!

Mommi says we're the best, but then she's kind of pwejudiced after four wires of her own too.
Listen Koobie, if you get dwesses quickly, you could come cwash Simba's 007 pawty with me..how about it?

Koobuss, we don't think we've met you!! Isn't it the best being a terrier pup?? We loved your "loveline" of Koobuss pups too. How did you guys get that cool name?? I should have been named SargeIII, but was outvoted by the human children in our family. They were still sad over SargeII going to heaven, so I was christened Scruffy. Lacie thinks your cute...she adores all of the fox terrier pups she's seen. Come and visit our blog!!!
Happy Barks & lakie licks...Scruffy and Lacie
Hi Koobuss,
Thanks for stopping by our blog earlier. We've never met a WFT before, so thanks for sharing about your breed. You do have a great smile. :o)
Lots of Lab licks,
Willow & Stella
What a great post! I sure agree with you on the wft...as I am one. I am one with a little more...hmmmmmm, what's a good word...."tude." But I am working on it.
Last night was the first time in years that Mom has been able to walk both me and Survivor at the same time. I have been working on being better with Survivor and mom sure appreciates that.
Ok, yap at ya later,
Bella
Move over Bella..(grunt, snort, bark)...finally I have the puter back. I will post my side of the story soon, so make sure that you put some time aside, cuz boy do I have an earful to give.
Will bark at ya later,
Survivor.
Hey Koobie, nice job on explaining the greatness of WFTs! J x
Hi Kooby! Hi!
WOW! Greatest facts Kooby! Thanks for sharing! Hey can you ask your Mommy to send my Mommy your address ... She has a picture of YOU to send! :)
Your Friend, '
Putter ...:)
I like the little clowns in fur suits description... I think that's FUN!
Love,
Bogart
Koobie,
We agree with everything you said about our breed. The only thing Mom was shaking her head at was "loyal." She is persuaded that we'd be off in a minute if someone offered us a ride, or if we didn't have that leash on us.
What do you think?
