Waiting For Santa

Hello all my dear furry and non-furry friends,

Tonight is the big night and I've been waiting here patiently. I know it's a little bit early, but I want to be sure that I don't miss him.

Maybe if I sit...

Perhaps I should stand.

Maybe if I sit on the other side of the lamppost...

The sky doesn't look good to me. I'm really getting worried. I hope Santa can make it through the clouds.

Wait a minute... Santa is coming from the north, right? Why I am looking to the west? That's the problem. OH NO!! I'm going to miss him!

This waiting stuff is hard work. I can't hold my head up much longer. Good Night.

So much for Santa.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL FROM KOOBIE AND FAMILY

Santa Letter

Hi Everybody,

I know it is getting late, with only a few days left before Christmas, so I thought I would finally write my letter to Santa. Don't worry about him getting it in time. I'm going to email it.

I have been giving this a lot of thought, this being my first real Christmas. I have to be very careful about what I ask for. I want Santa to like me. Many ask Santa to bring world peace, so I won't ask for that, although it would be great if he could do it. Many ask Santa to end world hunger, so I won't ask for that either, although it would be great if he could do it. It's not that I don't want these things, I do. It's just that they have been asked for over and over by millions of people every year and we still don't have them, so I figured that Santa is not responsible for bringing these things, we are. I mean people are. Not us pets. We are responsible for bringing the same thing Santa does -- happiness, joy, and fun into people's lives. Our job is to make people smile, and we are great at that!

That said, let's get down to business.

SANTAStop hanging around, and pay attention!!

Finally, somebody who will listen.

(Look at these two on the left. They think they're pretty cool. Especially the one with his nose up in the air. He thinks that he is a big deal just because he has a red blankie. Well, I have news for him! I have a red blankie, too, and mine's a lot bigger than that.)

Sorry, I was distracted. Anyway, here is my toy basket, with most, but not all, of my toys in it. (My Mom finally picked them up off the floor today. I'll put them back where they are supposed to be when I have time.) As you can see, I do have quite a lot of toys, so I really don't need any more. Besides, my favorite toy is an empty 16.9 ounce plastic water bottle. They are crunchy and make a terrific noise. None of my other toys can make that sound.

Finally, here is my letter.

Dear Santa,

My name is Koobuss and I am a wire fox terrier. I am just over one year old. I have a great home with people who love me dearly and there is nothing that I need. There are two things that I would like to have. I want an endless supply of bully sticks, and I want my mom to take me for more walks. That's all I want, Santa. More bully sticks and more walks. If I could have these two things, I would be very happy and I would not bother you again any more for at least a year. Thank You. Kiss, Kiss.

Love and Lots of Koobuss Kisses,
Koobie

pee ess Thank You Santa for what you did for me last year when I was just a little puppy. It is at this time of year that you brought me to my family here. They and I will be forever grateful. I love you, Santa. (While you are at it, will you please see what you can do for all my less fortunate homeless furry friends out there and for the Blaineville wires. Thanks again.)

Winter Wonderland

Hello Furry and Non-furry Friends!

What a day this has been! This morning when I woke up there was no power, it was cold in the house, there was a layer of ice all over everything outside, it was very windy, and we had two blue spruce trees in the front yard. (You can barely see the tree on the right, but it is there, believe me.) I got warm under my red blankie. Soon the telephone rang. It was our next door neighbor calling to tell us that we had a tree down in our front yard and it just missed my mom's car! We also had a tree down in our back yard. I was afraid to look at that one, so I didn't. Is this what they mean by "Winter Wonderland"?

Now we have to fix the tree. Of course, I had to supervise. How would they know what to do if it were not for me?

We have to put the tree back together. This tree and I are very close friends. It is my favorite tree. It is the tree that I get wrapped around the most when I sit out in the front yard and watch all the neighborhood doggies go by on their nightly walks. What will I do without this tree? Cry, Cry.
We must fix it!!

Let's see. This looks pretty good. It's a start at least.

Yes, I think that looks fine. I should be able to get wrapped around this with no trouble. And all those great smells are still there, too. This is really the only part I need. GOOD JOB, GUYS!!

Okay. I'm done working for today. Let's get back in the house. It's cold and it's sleeting and my fur is wet. I really hate that.

The power is back on now and it's getting warm in here again. My favorite tree is fixed. I have everything under control. Life is good again. It's time for a nap. Catch ya later...

WALKING IN A WINTER WONDERLAND!!

Confusion

Hi Everybody,

As you can see, I am not a very happy camper right now. I have some complaints about my secretary, aka Mom. Here is the problem. Actually, there are several "problems".

1. She didn't sign me up for DWBs Christmas card exchanges, or whatever it's called. She seemed to have no clue about it.
2. She didn't send in any of my adorable photos for the DWB calendar. She didn't know about that either. Clueless again. Duh!
3. She spilled almost a full glass of a cold beverage onto the keyboard of her year-old MacBookPro 17" laptop. She wants to cry. (Now she is using a little laptop for emergencies. This is an emergency.)
4. Three times she had to take down different sets of outside Christmas decorations (front banisters, red front bench, and back deck icicle lights) and put them back up again because they either burned out or she put them up wrong. She would not have so much work to do if she didn't do everything twice!
5. She didn't take me for my walk today. I don't care that it was snowing quite hard and that there was a layer of ice under the snow.
I love snow!! It is so much fun, and when it's slippery, it's even better!!

I'll have to tell all of this to Santa. Which reminds me. We didn't write my letter to Santa yet!! YIKES!!!

Please help me!!! What is wrong with her?? As they say, "Good help is hard to find."

Koobie

Tags

Hi Everybody,

I have been tagged by Putter and others to list eight facts about myself. The instructions are as follows:

"List eight ( 8 ) random facts about yourself.
Tag eight people at the end of your post and list their names (linking to them ). Let them know they've been tagged by leaving them a comment on their blogs okay?"

Here goes:

1. When I go out on the deck at night, I won't come back in until I get a treat. If I don't get a treat, I whine, I mean cry, until I get one.
2. In the morning I take a nap on the couch in the parlor soon after I get up. I finish sleeping there.
3. In the afternoon, I like to sit on grandpa's shoulders and look out the window. I'm watching for the neighbor's cat to come by so that I can bark at him. It makes my day.
4. I love bully sticks and bully stick holders.
5. Sitting out in the front yard is more fun for me than being on the back deck. I get to see dogs and people go by.
6. It is because of me that the mailman now has treats in his truck. He loves the little dance that I do for him.
7. When I play bitey face with my friend Sadie I pull her neck fur real hard. She doesn't like that, but I do.
8. When my mom picks up my toys and puts them in my toy basket, I take them out, one by one, and put them back in front of the patio doors where they belong. People will just have to walk around them.

So there you have eight rather boring facts about me. Also, Asta's Mommi tagged my mom to list five things about herself. Now these are really boring.
(My mom got brave and posted a picture of herself that she took with the isight camera on the computer while she was working on my blog. Scary, isn't it?)

1. When my mom was a baby, her aunt knitted her a stuffed dog that her grandfather called "Koobus". That is where the name started. The full story appeared as a blog post back in August.
2. My mom has visited thirty-six states, Canada, and Mexico. Her favorite U. S. cities are, in no particular order: Boston, New York, Chicago, and San Diego. Her favorite states are Pennsylvania, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Hawaii, and Utah. Colorado, Montana, Washington, Oregon, and the states along the Upper Great Lakes are among the states she has missed, but would love to visit someday. Her favorite place of all is Mountain Top, PA. She just loves living here.
3. On a cold night in February 2004, she broke her right ankle when she fell on black ice while walking the late Koobus III. (Actually, he pulled her down.) It was pretty ugly. We will spare you the gory details. The ankle, along with her right knee, have both been giving her problems lately. She is getting old and feeling it.
4. My mom loves almost all animals, especially wire fox terriers. She finds us to be adorable and amusing. She is right, of course.
5. In 2003, my mom took an early retirement from her teaching career at the age of 55. Since March of this year she has spent most of her spare time blogging and entertaining me.

Sorry that I did not get to these tags sooner, but I have been busy, as you know, getting all my snow orders out. By now, all of you should have your boxes of snow. I still haven't written my letter to Santa yet. I hope that it's not too late. That will be my next job. Anyway, because these tags are old and have been around a while, I am going to tag anyone who has not yet been tagged and wants to play. This goes for both my furry friends out there, and my non-furry friends such as ms. creek, blue, and Patience. It will be fun to hear from them.

Love and Koobuss Kisses,
Koobie

My mom will be mailing all the boxes of snow out soon. Watch your mail.

Thanks.

Naughty or Nice?

Hi Friends,
I need your help. As you can see from the top two photos, it is December in Mountain Top, PA, where I live. This means that it is time for me to think about my behavior since I moved here last December 30. Have I been naughty or nice? Since I will be writing my letter to Santa soon, I need to know what to tell him.

Let's see....

Yesterday I stole grandpa's underwear out of the wash, ran around the house with them, chewed them up pretty good, and left them for dead by the patio doors. (By the way, those teeth marks that you see in the door frame are mine. I put them there last spring. I did a pretty good job, don't you think.)

I already told you about stealing my mom's reading glasses when she was on the phone. I took them to my favorite spot in front of the doors but I gave them back after she chased me.

Gee, I wish I could remember where I hid that remote control for the electric heater in the sun room. It would be nice to have, especially now that it got cold out. Now where could that be?

Then there was the whole New York trip to visit Asta -- the accident, the parking tickets, etc. But we won't talk about that since you already know that story.

In the spring there was the attack on the stuffed bunnies that invaded our house. I told you about that, too. I think I won that one. They did finally leave. Now we have all these snowmen showing up. So far I haven't eaten any........ Yet.

And now for all the bad stuff....

I can't think of one single thing.

The best thing of all is that I give lots of kisses and I love everybody! I am the happiest little wire fox terrier in all of everywhere!

So, have I been naughty or nice? You decide. Then I'll know if I need to write a letter to Santa or not.

Thanks for all your help.

Koobie
